Report day 3Today, Wednesday, was an excellent day of sailing for the youth World Championship Laser Radial. Around 10 o’clock everyone was on the water and ready to start a good day. The warning signal for the girls was at exactly 11 o’clock. This time there weren’t as many problems at the start as before, with as a result a reasonably quick start for all starting groups. At half past two the first sailors were back in the harbour again. Every day there is a good pasta meal available for the sailors, which the youth enjoys a lot.
There is a strong competition between the girls, the top 5 is close to one another, so anything is possible in the next days. American Anna Haeger remained first, but is closely followed by Susana Romero Steensma. In third position is Tuula Tenkanen from Finland, with 3 points behind number 1 and 2.
A lot of boys still have problems with the strong current on the coast of Scheveningen. Nonetheless there is a strong competition between them. The Danish Thorbjoern Schierup had a fantastic day. He won both races and has a good lead of number two, Alex Mills-Barton (GBR).
Tomorrow we expect a lot of wind, but we still hope to be able to sail races anyway.
